Yep, I turned 17 in Berlin. Well, I had to because I had a YFU-Weihnachtstreffen with more than 20 exchange students in MV and Brandenburg. cool, ne?
That was actually almost a month ago. I am the worst blogger. I do have time to write but I always look for something else. On 29.11.13 I left Schwerin with a shaken trust in my companion, Ayu (exchange student from Japan), who said he knew the way to YFU. I wish he did.
We arrived safely in Berlin. There, in Berlin Hbf, we met Florencia (exchange student from Argentina). And then it was Ayu's mission to take us to YFU. We went upstaires and downstaires many times that I don't know how many anymore. We were looking for the S-bahn sign as Ayu said. In the end, we decided we'll ask the information desk. We were given a paper with information of bus times' and lines'. such a dream! We took our first steps in Berlin out of the station. We were welcomed with rain, darkness and cold weather, although, it was just 5:00 pm. Welcome to the capital of Germany, Berlin. With our heavy bags and wet information paper, we ran to the bus stop.. and waited for our first bus. 5-8 mins later.. It came, Our bus came. We found our way or that's what we thought.
-"fahren Sie zur Osloerstrasse?"
-"Nein!"
How could that be? It is written. 10-15 mins later came the other bus.
-"fahren Sie zur Osloerstrasse?"
-"Nein!" he was not so nice like the one before him.
Untill the third time, a nice group of women asked the bus driver which bus goes to Osloerstarsse (our destination). It was bus 120 that came 20 mins later ... I explained to the bus driver that we're exchange students and so but he wasn't an easy man, probably thinking just another ignorant foreign. Berlin is just full of foreigners, strangers and some locals. To sum it up, it was a long tiring interesting experience. We had to look for another bus after the 120 and we finally found our way to Osloerstrasse but not the building... I called Lena from YFU. We were saved.
It took us three hours to get to our destination from Berlin Hbf to Osloerstr..!
